In my last post, I intentionally left out a part of the story that led to a whole new story. So here's round 2.
While I was waiting to board my plane in LA at 2 in the morning, I saw an unusually cool looking man. He had a big thick beard, great jewelry, a hand-made walking cane, and a very sweet face. Let's also throw in the fact that he looked young - maybe early 30's. My inner guide said "connect with this man." Because I was so tired I left it at that, got on the plane and headed off to Costa Rica.
When we arrived there the next morning, I strolled up to the baggage claim and guess who I found? Yup, the cool dude. Once again, my inner guide said: "connect with this man." So I strolled up and introduced myself.
He said: "My name is Francis, but you can call me Seven Thunders."
Hmmm.....what should I tell him to call me? How about "tall as your little sister?" Well, that's not quiet as catchy.....I'll go with Max.
He was a medicine man that led psychotropic journeys with
Ayawaska. Cool. Him and his wife (who was flying from Phoenix) bought a one way ticket to Costa Rica because "spirit" told him that this is where he needed to be. Double cool. I liked this guy. We exchanged information and that was it - Francis was gone and I was on my way.
The week progressed and come Friday morning, I'm walking through the lobby of the hotel and BAM!!!! I literally run into Francis and his wife.
"Whoa man, what are you guys doing here?" I asked.
His wife, Garbrielle, goes on to explain that while she was on the plane ride out here from Arizona, she sat next to some guy name
Malik who was heading to some conference called ANH with some guy named Max Simon.
Whoa.
So just to get this straight, I left from LAX at 2 am with Francis (the husband). Malik left at 3 pm from Arizona with Gabrielle (the wife). It just so happens that we both connected, talked about where we were going, made the connection, and are now standing in the lobby of the Intercontinental in Costa Rica with a full day ahead ready for an adventure.
Whoa.
We all agreed, the connection was too strong to let it pass. So we packed up and headed out to see where the wind would blow us.....and it ended up taking us to the top of a volcano where we found some amazing trails in the heart of the rain forest. The silence was profound, the vibe was special, and the memories will last a lifetime.
My inner guide continued to say: "flow with this man" so Eugenia (another new friend) and I ended up staying with them that night. Thinking I was leaving the next day (Saturday), I came to find out that my flight was actually scheduled for Sunday (oops) which meant that I had a whole new day with these beautiful people. Once again, my wise guide steered me in the right direction.
So often in life we have creative insights that the mind is quick to overshadow. During this experience, I didn't once second guess that spontaneous impulse and each time, it proved to create even greater adventures and connections.
My takeaway:
follow your natural knowing, your inner guide, and your journey will always unfold exactly how it's supposed to.
