Today is an important day.
It's where we collectively decide what type of leadership
feels most aligned with our own core values and beliefs.
As you can imagine, emotions are burning hot.
During these sensitive times, it's easy to judge others.
"How could they possibly think like that?" or "They're
ignorant for believing that" are just some of the thoughts
that I have caught myself thinking over the last few days.
Guilty as charged.
So I woke up this morning with a new energy and a new
thought: "Everyone is trying the best they can." While it's
sometimes hard to swallow, this is ALWAYS the case. Let
me explain.
Your experiences from the past shape the beliefs you carry,
and the beliefs you hold dictate the actions you take. What
this means is that your background usually (emphasis on)
dictates what you think, and thus you can't blame someone
for believing in a certain cause based upon where they
have come from. For better or worse, they have come from
a different place and gone down a different road.
It's as simple as that.
I understand that today is an important day and we should
all do our part by voting. But as you perform action, make
a commitment to bring a little compassion into your
awareness. When someone is making a decision or taking
a stand for something that you oppose, soften into the
place of knowing that "they are trying the best they can
with the tools they have been given."
Now is the perfect time to practice what will happen as our
collective shifts. Let's vote for change and move beyond
separation and judgment.
Much love,
