Wow, what an evolutionary week!
Record numbers of young people came out to vote and we
elected our first black president. As a result, people from
all different cultures, races, and backgrounds are
celebrating these monumental achievements. It feels like
change is in the air.
What's interesting about the shift that have taken place
over the last few days is that it's not actually about Obama;
at least not entirely. If you look below the surface, what's
been re-born inside is a new found sense of hope and
inspiration. While it's easy to say "That's because we have
a new leader!", the truth is that Obama simply represents
our own actualized potential projected outward.
Think about it.
He represents an underdog that came out on top. He
represents unity when the past was ruled by separation. He
represents hope that conquered despair. He represents light
that awakened darkness.
If you look inside, do you feel a personal connection to any
of these stories?
I sure do.
I'm bringing this up because it's possible to "elect hope"
every day of our lives, regardless of what's happening in
politics. Yes, external factors might make it easier on
certain days then others. But if we understand that this
feeling of inspiration that has recently washed over our
nation actually comes from within, and that if we all come
together at the same time to project it outwards, what
unfolds is a celebration of human existence, diversity, and
change.....and guess what? It can happen all the time!
So YES, let's celebrate the dawn of a new day!! But let's
not make it (just) about Obama. Let's focus on the energy
of change, the spirit of unity, and the beauty of hope. For
if we realize that he didn't create these energies inside of
us but rather we projected them onto him, we can take
responsibility for the momentum that we've created and
sustain it over time to better serve ourselves, each other,
and humanity as a whole.
Does this make sense? As always, your comments are
welcomed and appreciated.
Much love,
Max
PS: It's becoming clear that the most important mission
of selfcentered is to build community so we're going to
test something out. For the upcoming Out of Your Mind
Immersion on Nov 28-30, the next five people that register
can bring a friend FOR FREE. That means that the price
of the workshop is now cut in 1/2. We can only do this
with five people so contact us ASAP to make it happen.
