Max Simon, Grammy-nominated No’a Winter Lazerus collaborate on ‘Musitations:’ Meditation through Music

LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 6, 2008 – The selfcentered Tour (www.getselfcentered.com), a meditation-based movement consisting of experiential events, entertainment, teacher training and web community, today announced its first CD ‘Musitations’ is available for sale online at www.getselfcentered.com. ‘Musitations’ features nine tracks including four guided meditations led by founder and chief enlightenment officer of The selfcentered Tour Max Simon, and original tracks composed and performed by Grammy-recognized No’a Winter Lazerus.

“We developed ‘Musitations’ to be different than any other form of guided meditation in existence, and different than anything done so far around meditation music zones,” said Simon. “This CD delivers experiences to take the listener into the depths of their own awareness, for extreme inner expansion, to help people reconnect with their authentic inner-self.”

Guided meditations that incorporate music generally treat it as a background sound rather than a key contribution to the experience. Each ‘Musitation’ track is ten minutes long and has a slow introduction, a rhythmic build to lead the listener deeper into a meditative state, and a coda to help them exit. These tracks are intended to be used daily, regardless of the listener’s experience with meditation, and require only time to get comfortable, close their eyes, and plug in.

“The concept of Musitations is that these tracks create deeply powerful meditation zones while using modern, edgy musical approaches found in current Generation Y music and groups like Massive Attack or Zero 7,” said Lazerus, who has collaborated with artists such as Steely Dan’s Donald Fagen, Seal, Bad Religion, Joe Cocker and Violent Femmes. “This is meditation music you can use alone or in a group, after surfing, hiking, hang-gliding, before going out or after a long night with friends.”

‘Musitations’ also incorporates contemporary musical instruments and effects such as the Fender Rhodes electric piano, Hammond organ, unusual guitars, and deconstructed cellos.

Lazerus and Simon have signed a contract to release five additional volumes of ‘Musitations’ with unique and different sounds, textures, and experiences. Lazerus was so taken with The selfcentered Tour’s meditation movement that he recently became an Awareness Architect (certified teacher) to help bring the selfcentered tools to the world.
