Meditation Misconceptions
People make up all sorts of funny reasons for why they can’t meditate. But the truth is that everyone is just afraid of what they don’t know. Once you learn a little more about the background, practices, and values, we’re certain that you will want to join us in spending a couple minutes per day with your eyes closed.
I can’t do it
As long as you can sit down and close your eyes, you can get
selfcentered. Though it might take a little time and practice to become skilled at it, every person on this planet has a place inside that is quiet, clear, calm, and authentic. All you need is the right tools, training, and support to connect to this space. You couldn’t walk the first time you tried but that didn’t stop you. Meditation is no different.
I can’t block out my thoughts
It’s a good thing you don’t have to then. The purpose of meditation is to step away from the thoughts; not stop them from coming altogether. As long as you’re alive, you will always have thoughts. But upon learning our tools, you will become a master at shifting your attention to the silence that exists underneath the thoughts.
I can’t sit still
You mean you choose not to sit still. If it were a life or death situation, I’m sure you could slow your roll for a couple of minutes. Right? So with that in mind, it’s not really a matter of capability as much as it’s a matter of priority. That’s why it’s our job to help you understand and appreciate how life-changing meditation can be. Once you get it, the practice becomes much easier because you see the value.
I
’ll loose my edge
You won’t loose your edge; you’ll just drop the craziness that surrounds it. Most people are so tightly wound that all they know is tension. The stress that accompanies that feeling makes it difficult to think clearly, be creative, or focus. Meditation helps you clear out that trash and come to the table with a new purpose and vision. With clarity comes efficiency, and with efficiency comes achievement. Meditation won’t dull your passion; it will simply help you achieve success with greater ease.
It’s not cool
Just the fact that you’re concerned about being cool means that you need meditation more then you know. When you look to the world around you for approval, you will always feel out of style. But once you make the shift and decide to live your life according to your own inner-authenticity, you become the style. Meditation is the vehicle that helps you do just that.
It’s a religious thing
We teach tools, not religion. Our mission is simply to get people to close their eyes, slow down, and re-connect. During these moments, people have profound experiences. Yet we have no desire to label them. Regardless of your background or beliefs, our programs will help you step away from the endless mind chatter, relax the body, and connect to your authentic inner self.
It’s boring
If you think that becoming a master of your energy, attention, and focus is boring, then you’re right. It’s boring. But if you would like to take full control of your life, manifest abundance with ease, and create love at every moment, then we think that you should start meditating. Plus, it feels REALLY good.
I don’t have the time
That’s like saying that you don’t have time to fill up your gas tank because you’re too busy driving. Think of these practices as your daily pit stop. Everyone needs to recharge and get clear on what drives them. After learning about how easy and beneficial it is, you too will agree that taking some time out of your day to get centered will make the remaining waking hours of your day easier to handle.
I don’t need to do it
If every element of your life is completely and totally fulfilling, then you probably don’t need to meditate. But if there is something deep inside of you that knows a better life is possible, you should try spending some time with your eyes closed. Besides the wealth of scientific evidence that validates how good it is for your health and wellbeing, the life lessons learned from connecting to your silent inner-self are genuinely satisfying and deeply profound. All it takes is a couple of minutes to get selfcentered. Why not give it a try and see what happens?
It’s a tree hugger thing
Some people that meditate are definitely out there. We get it. But isn’t that true about everything?
People from all different walks of life meditate. Some might meditate to bring them closer to oneness while others meditate to help them de-stress. The people within our movement are no different. That being said, our intention is to equip people with the tools build businesses, create abundance, enhance self-esteem, look good, have fun, and rock out. We believe meditation is the vehicle to help you create these things authentically. As you flow with the rhythm of life, meditation helps you keep everything in perspective. It has most certainly helped us to never loose sight of the reason that we’re on this journey – to enjoy it.
